Heya all-

Within the past 2 weeks, the vibrate on my iPhone began to get weaker and weaker. About a week ago, it stopped altogether. Now, I treat this phone extremely well, so it wasn't dropped or anything along those lines. I've read around that, if you shake it hard enough or give it a little "love tap", the motor, which seems to get stuck, will free up. I've been able to get it to work by doing that, but it'll stop after 2-3 vibrations.

I've tried restoring from a backup and doing a fresh restore, and it's still the same. Any other ideas? I don't have any extra warranty (just the 1-year that came with the phone), so I don't wanna get screwed by the dudes at the Genius Bar telling me that I'm out of luck.

Thanks!

I have the same issue, however I didn't notice it getting weaker, just that I was always missing calls.

I had that problem. Mine just stopped working one day, I never noticed it getting weaker. I have the extra 2-yr warranty plan through apple and took it to the apple store. They exchanged it, and the new one has worked fine since. Although I am getting reception problems now after the 2.0 update.

If its still under warranty then take it back.

This is unfortunately not something you're at all likely to be able to fix yourself. If you feel that it has anything to do with the 2.0 software upgrade, you might be able to sway some Genius sympathy, but probably not.

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone. I'm not sure when it began, but noticed one day that I didn't here my iPhone vibrate on a surface as it was ringing. I am hoping it is a software issue that can be fixed because My warranty ended in mid July and I'm doubtful apple will replace it.
