    crucible_01,

Have you tried restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone? More information can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 . Another good troubleshooting article is http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1650 .

If that doesn't help, it's always a good idea to double-check with AT&T to further isolate the issue. Beyond that, it might be time to look into servicing your iPhone. More info on servicing the iPhone can be found here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/ .

Personally, the reception on my iPhone has not changed at all since the 2.0.2 update.

    Hope this helps,

    Raleigh

I noticed that the itunes 7.7.1.11 and iphone 2.0.2 software now restricts even MANUALLY managing music and video to a single computer.
I do not want to SYNC at all. I want to manage my music and video. Up until the 2.0 software i could do this from many machines. However, with the 2.0.2 I have to erase my whole iphone just to set the +Manually Manage+ checkbox.

Had it running today. My contact list is definitley running faster and I have 1 3g bar inside my office when I couldn't get a 3g signal before.

Same story for me. I live in the middle of Manhattan; 55th Street and Fifth Avenue; clear view of sky and open space; should have perfect 3G. (Only 3 blocks from the flagship Apple store, no less!)

Yet at home I used to get two bars and 3G. It didn't necessarily work, but that's what it reported. Usually I could place calls, but data was very flaky. My frequent problem with 3G data has been that it shows anywhere from 1-5 bars and yet won't load data -- in Safari, the spinning wheel just spins and spins forever.

Anyway, with 2.0.2, now I just get "No service" at home. It doesn't fall back to EDGE as it should. I can manually turn off 3G and then EDGE works fine, but if 3G is enabled, it goes right to "No service". At least I use WiFi at home for data, but as it is now, as soon as I come home, I can receive no calls unless I remember to turn off 3G manually so that it will use EDGE. This is WRONG WRONG WRONG.

After installing 2.0.2, I loose all service (voice and data) after enabling 3G.

My reception has improved -- previously I was unable to stay connected long enough to make a call 90% of the time.
There's a HUGE "however" though: after the 2.0.2 update, all my phone functions are non-responsive. If I press the phone icon on the home screen, it opens to the "Recents" screen. and the touch screen goes non-functional; can't switch to favorites, contacts, keyboard or voicemail; can't switch from "All" to "Missed"; can't "Clear".
The only way I can make a call is to initiate it from Contacts from the Home screen. Once I've completed a call, the "End Call" button is non-responsive. The only way to end the call is to lock the phone.
This is my only phone; I have no home phone; I had to make a call earlier and had to add the number to my contacts in order to be able to make the call.
I've always been an Apple fan and defender, but this is quickly souring me.

I've got a new iPhone 3G, with the 2.0.2 update - it is the first time that I see the edge icon, 3G was always on before this update. The device runs much warmer as well. Not happy at all how Apple has been managing firmware since 2.0 with all the issues present.

After the 2.0.2 update the 3G signal strength is better but battery life is MUCH MUCH worse. After the update in the AM yesterday I had to recharge the phone twice. After charging the phone over night it was dead in 90 minutes with no use. Been trying to get into tech support this morning and after 30 minutes the on-hold music has stopped altogether.

during the update of any applications it is freezing badly

I hate to be contrarian, but I've found just the opposite. I'm pulling in an extra 1-2 bars on Edge and about 7-10db stronger at home. 3G seems to be about a bar better.

The folks at the Apple Store did tell me that they couldn't get into specifics, but 2.0.2 does address the dropped calls I was experiencing on the Edge network and when I installed the update I did notice appreciably stronger signal strength at home.

Um, I hope 2.0.3 update is due in the next day or two. I've done system restore twice in the last 12 hours because itunes will freeze while installing applications. So far since the 2.0.2 update my phone has been useless and because the backup feature doesn't work I lost all of my text messages and my call log. I'm not sure who allowed this phone to be put on the market but it's really changed my thoughts on Apple. I don't believe I have experienced a Windows Mobile phone that was this bad.

I also hope that 2.0.3 (OR SOMETHING) is out. I've spent all day trying to get the iPhone working after the 2.0.2 update. I've followed the instructions on the apple support site, removed and re-installed iTunes, tried another PC, but it seems since it is forcing 2.0.2 on to "restore" it just won't work. This was just out of the box yesterday. No applications downloaded or anything, so I have to say it's the update that killed it.
