when im on the phone with someone, the person im on the phone with can hear the "beeps", when i have an incoming call? anyone else having this problem?

    Yes, that happens when i'm talking with a friend who also has an iphone (1st gen). I can faintly hear his call waiting beeps.

    All I can think of is that the microphone is sensitive enough to actually pick up the beeping sound coming from way up in the earpiece.

    It is an issue on At&t's end. They have to disable your call waiting and then enable it. That should correct the problem. At least it did for me.

    I thought that happens on any phone even a lan line.

    I called AT&T but they said "we cannot reset your call waiting or disable and enable it because the system have not this feature"

    I have many problems because this iPhone call waiting issue !!!!

    does not happen on land line. You hear the beeps, they don't.

    I have call waiting but no one have ever said anything. It's not that loud. No louder than another phone ringing in the background if you were in the same room as that phone.

    I just recently purchased my iPhone last week and was having the same problem. I went to the AT&T store and asked if it was possible to reset or disable/enable my call waiting due to the problem and the sales associate said there was no such thing as resetting the call waiting. She suggested I go to the Apple store, as this was a technical problem. Still frustrated with the call waiting problem, I decided to go to another AT&T store. The sales associate switched out my SIM card to check if it was maybe a problem with the SIM. After he switched out my current SIM card with a new one he tried calling my phone to see if the call waiting beeps could still be heard. The call waiting beeps were gone! Anyway, switching out my SIM card resolved my problem. I still don't know exactly what caused the problem, but I'm relieved that there was a solution (at least in my case)!

    Go to At@t and get other sim for your phone,I really don't know why alot of stuff go wrong with our phone,But everything they than put other sim card in my phone it work fine after that.So try other sim for your phone that should fix's that problem that you have with your phone.

    Actually, you can disable/enable call waiting on the iPhone:

    Settings>Phone>Call Waiting (On/Off)
