I haven't had a dropped call in a while. Today when I woke up I updated the firmware to 2.1 and had 3 dropped calls just on the way to work. Has anybody else encountered this? Also my EDGE icon looks different. It is just an E instead of the E in the box.

Everyone is probably making calls to test their iPhones so maybe you are getting cell congestion.

I really never had a problem with dropped calls, however, I don't think this update was a rush job. All the issues I have had where fixed. Bob

Count me in. After the 2.0.2 the dropped call issue went down a little bit. But now... 4 out of 5 Calls had a drop. I switched 3g off to make a call possible.
    That really su*
Also i had a "sim card locked" during normal use. My friend, who ownes an iphone als well told me he had the "sim card locked" issue two times yesterday.
But apps really install much faster :-/

I'm not able to make a call at all. I have a drop rate at 100 percent with 2.1. It was bad before, but not 100 percent. I'm delivering my iPhone back monday...

this is NOT what youre looking for BUT , since 2.1 the areas around my city (nashville tn) where i consistently dropped calls are now staying connected. so im having the exact opposite results with 2.1.
just giving you my 2 cents:-) sorry youre having trouble

ever since I updated to 2.1 my calls are dropping more often than not. I am really upset because I thought this was going to be fixed. I think the calls drop because the phone has to switch to edge, in order to keep the call going but it cannot since switchng between networks requires being off the call. So, since it cannot switch while on a call it drops the call. Just my 0.02 cents

Ive never had an issue with dropped calls and dont now. I think I've been one of the lucky ones, Ive never really had any issues with my phone like the others...My icon is different now, the 3G is not surrounded by a box. I have noticed a much improved signal strength. At home I usually had 2-3 bars and it would go up and down alot, now I have five bars most all the time with a drop to four here and there. Although even when I showed only one or two bars I never had issues with reception, neither voice or data. I have not noticed any lag at all since the update. As for battery Ive not really seen any improvement or noticed any change really at all. So far I'm happy with my phone and each of the updates seems to have improved at least something...

I'm in the UK with O2. I've never had a dropped call UNTIL I upgraded to Version 2.1. Never. Today I've had three drops. Most odd. Anyone else having similar problems?!

I wonder if they've improved things in the states and broken things abroad! Not good for a phone than otherwise is great.

Never had a dropped call with iPhone 1.0 thru iPhone 2.1, G3 or Edge. Even when I was TMobile customer I never had a dropped call. Must be something in the voice....

I called Apple/ATT today to complain about dropped calls after updated to 2.1 (I had dropped 3G calls before, too). They suggested I do a "network reset" in the settings-->general-->reset. I made a few calls this afternoon with no drops, so my fingers are crossed. It's probably worth a try to do the reset...

I am from Singapore. I have not experienced any drop calls since the 2.0.2 update. As far as I can remember, not even any before 2.0.2. Could this be a telco problem ?
