Q: 5G Video ipod hook up to tv_No Video

I see this topic has been discussed in the past but I do not see any resolution. Is there one?

I have a composite apple issued cable, tv settings > OUT ... Audio, NO VIDEO

I've tried using the dock set up, same deal.

Is this a firmware issue or something?

2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Right, with the fifth generation iPods, if you set the TV Out setting to ON then the iPod's LCD screen should only show text of what you are watching and an icon representing the video. It shouldn't be showing the video on the LCD screen.

Perhaps a Restore is in order?

    It might just be a bad cable. I seem to recall someone else who had this issue and a replacement cable fixed the issue. The Video out line may be defective/broken.

    Maybe this will shed some more light on this ....

    Even with the tv out setting being turned 'on', the video is still displayed on the ipod screen. Is this supposed to happen? If not, something is amiss in the ipod itself, it's as if the settings have no effect either way, tv on or off or ask for that matter. However, audio responds to the changed setting.

    That's what I was thinking and had it in progress as you responded .......

    All is well

    Others with this issue (I see quite a few on this forum) may want to see if the same factors are present on their ipod and if so, try the restore!
