Currently Being ModeratedOct 3, 2008 9:30 PM (in response to Andy,uk)Your Keychain may be slightly corrupted, so try opening Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid and run that, which may fix the problem. If it doesn't (you have to test it by restarting Mail and trying to connect first), then go into the Password > Internet section of Keychain Access, find that password and delete it.
Then try connecting again and when you're prompted for the password for that account, enter it and check to the box to save it in the Keychain. That should fix it for certain.

Thanks for your ideas. Sadly, no joy, I still can't get the password past the pop server.
