Oct 24, 2008 6:32 AM in response to DocMidnyteby Jan Hedlund,But how do I get it in there, if I cant get on the net? Any ideas? Can I download it through another mac via firewire? No install discs....
With the appropriate hardware and software, you could download a file onto another Mac and then use FireWire for the transfer. Several alternatives exist. You could burn a CD with the downloaded file on a second computer. Or, use Ethernet between computers. A USB flash memory drive would be another possibility.

Oct 25, 2008 11:37 AM in response to Jan Hedlundby DocMidnyte,Thanks for your suggestions. I tried to upload to the clamshell from a flash drive and it said it didn't recognize the program that created the "documents." Am I doing something wrong? -
Oct 25, 2008 1:00 PM in response to DocMidnyteby Grant Bennet-Alder,If you are using a PC as an intermediary, the files must stay compressed until they are on the Mac, and be unpacked on the Mac. PC's do not use the Resource fork half of the files that Macs depend on, nor do they tag Applications with type and creator fields. A PC will discard those items if the files are fully unpacked on a PC. -
Oct 26, 2008 1:55 AM in response to DocMidnyteby Jan Hedlund,As Grant indicated, keep the downloaded file compressed (and do not decode the .bin) until on the iBook. This is essential if the download has been carried out on a PC, and can be a good idea with files from a Mac OS X computer. Once on the iBook, use an appropriate version of StuffIt Expander. Do not double-click on the downloaded file. Instead, drag the file onto the StuffIt Expander program icon (or open it from inside this utility).
