My sound in iMovie stopped working correctly. Before when I ran my mouse over the clips in both the event view and the project view it played sound. It also showed the level (?) of the sound. Now in the event view nothing happens if I run my mouse over clips. Sound also does not play if I click them to play the clips. No sound levels are displayed. If I add the clips to a project and run my mouse over the clips no sound plays but it does show sound levels. It will only play sound once I click the clips to play them in the project view.
Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

I am experiencing the same problem. iMovie has been working fine for a while. Today, I imported a clip from a video camera and then merged it into one of the events. The program froze, so I did a force quit. Now I hear no sound at all from iMovie, but I can hear other programs just fine.

I was having the exact same issue - skimming the clips there was sound, but playing them there wasn't.

I had only 5GB free out of 120GB on my hard drive and it turned out that iMovie needed more disk space to make the temp files it uses. I moved a bunch of files off to an external drive, and the sound began working again. Big relief!
