In the program Text Edit in order to make a font larger you have to go to Window>Font>Bigger, and you have to keep doing this if you want to keep making the font larger. This is a bummer.
The command key and + won't do it and next to "Bigger" it shows the command and+.
Pressing the command key and + key works in email and other programs and saves allot time.
Am I doing something wrong. If so, why is the command key and + shown next to "Bigger" as a key short cut?

command and + +at the same time+ works for me.

You can also go into the Fonts menu and select the size you want.

    Hi Peter,

If you use the + on the left of the board, it's actually CMDSHIFT=, or CMD&+ on the numpad.

Or better yet CMD+t, then choose a size.

Is there any way to make the viewing size larger without increasing the size of the font?

You can change the display scale factor at the bottom-right corner of the TextEdit window.
