Hi,
I was just trying to update to 2.2 firmware but update failed. iTunes gave some error but I just clicked okay without reading and now my iPhone is stuck on "connect to iTunes" screen. Have tried to reboot it but no use. iTunes can't detect the iPhone anymore.

Any ideas how can I fix it?

When you said you rebooted, did you do a simple shutoff-restart or a HARD reset? I just got 2.2 and it worked perfectly for me. I'm about to test out the street-view thing.

This happend to me updating to 2.1 and is why i will not update to 2.2 im scared it will happen again. I took mine to the apple store and they said this occured because i pluged my iphone into a friends computer before i put it on mine. They said if i plugged it back into my friends computer it would be fine and then i would just have to deauthorize it from his computer and then connect it to mine and it would be fine. I didnt want to take a chance so they just did a full restore in the store and i had to start from scratch. Same thing happend to another guy when i was in there. They said this is for security reasons so if your phone gets stolen then once the person tries to put it in their computer then they cant use it.

wish i could say i ever plugged my iphone into anyone else's computer but i never have. i can honestly say my iphone has never interfaced with anything other than my own computer... =/

as long as my contacts were backed up into my computer and i can retrieve them, i'll be happy. for now, i have no idea what will happen when i stomp into the apple store tomorrow...

yeah i think thats the only explanation they could give me but the other guy in there did not plug his into another computer either and they didnt know what to tell him. They said that theyve never seen this problem before and it was weird that they had 2 of this same problem that they have never seen before in the same day.

i'm really upset too spartan but cussing apple out isn't going to help (except maybe your mental health). i just need to problem to be rectified and my contacts to still be there. any idea if your contacts were able to be restored from your computer after starting out fresh emac?

I tried 2.2 and it worked without any hassles. All the features work like a charm. Why don't you guys try the Restore button on iTunes and restore your phone back to 2.1 till the issues are resolved? I'm sure you backed up your phone before upgrading(?)

We can't click on the restore button; iTunes won't even notice the iPhone is in there.

I don't know about you guys, but I get a warning saying that I have to enter the passcode on my iPhone to unlock it so iTunes can sync with it.

But there's no place for me to enter my passcode...

My update has also failed, I don't know why I try to update so quick all the time. This is why I bought another Windows based laptop last week instead of a Mac, if they can't get the iPhones firmware and iTunes to work properly what chance do they have with an OS.
