Q: powerbook 1400 problems

hello, i cant get my powerbook 1400 working, when i plug it in the green LED turns on and you hear the click noise from the speaker. but it wont respond when i press the power button on they keyboard. i have tried resetting the PMU by pressing the button at the back for 10-20s a few times but it hasn't worked. it wont power up the hard drive or anything, the led is always on.

ive tried removing the battery and use adapter only
reseting PMU 3-4 times

try known-good adapter and known-good battery

connect adapter and restart in 3-4 minutes
but nothing seems to be fixing it.

Powerbook Pismo 400mhz firewire, iMac 350Mhz PowerPc 8100/100

Sounds like GLOD, it's possible that you have a bad memory module. Try removing one or both and see if that solves the problem. If this doesn't solve the problem it could also be the CPU that is bad.

Also try pulling the PRAM battery though it sounds like you went that route already.

    jO,

If your 1400 has been unused and disconnected from the power adapter for a few months, your internal rechargeable backup battery can run down and corrupt the power manager; sometimes normal resets will not clear up this issue. Remove the main battery and disconnect the power adapter for 24 hours. Now try resetting the power manager WITHOUT adding any power. If the sleep light stays lit or flashes, allow the 'book to sit longer. You want to see no response when resetting the power manager without power.

Now connect just the power adapter and try starting; if no response, leave the power adapter connected and reset power manager and see if it will start.
