I currently own a 80gb ipod classic which is not yet a yesar old. My problem is that it is registuring all the files as "other". This means that I cannot listen to music, watch movies or anything else. the only thing that works is the games. I have tried a system restore on the ipod but all this has resulted in is that it will not connect with itunes. It does connect to the computer. can anyone help me with this.

The usual solution for this problem is restoring your iPod. To restore, connect it to your computer, open iTunes, and under the main "Summary" tab hit the Restore button.

This wipes all of the data off your iPod, but just make sure that you've got all of your music/photos/etc. on your computer before restoring it. Afterward, just resync your iPod again and it should work alright.

But I have tried that if you had read it properly. It has just made it worse as it will no longer sync with itunes.

Sorry, I didn't read it close enough.

So, the current issue is that your iPod won't connect to your computer right now. This could be a variety of issues, but let's attempt a few things.

I know this sounds simple, but have you tried restarting your iPod a few times (trying it while connected to your computer, and a couple of times when not connected)? To reset an iPod, press and hold the MENU and center buttons together for ten seconds or so. It should restart by showing the Apple logo on its screen.

Also, try unplugging your iPod and reconnecting the USB cord into a different USB slot on your computer.

Try that a couple of times, and see if there's any difference.

What other USB devices are connected to this computer and are you on a network?
