I'm offered an opportunity to upgrade my iTunes library because lots of stuff is now available in the iTunes plus DRM free format. But when I try to do so it stops before beginning any downloads with a dialogue box saying

The item you tried to buy is no longer available.
The availability of the item changed while you were using the store. The same item may be available with a different price or elsewhere in the store.

I've tried this about half a dozen times now.

Any ideas?

    I am getting the same error. I contacted the store support.

    OK and did that help?

    Actually just after making my post here i also contacted the Apple Store (by email)
    I am sure they will be interested in our cases as we obviously were planning to spend money in their shop!!

    ok so i had a positive reply from apple saying they know there is an issue and best recommendation to try again in a couple of weeks. They did offer that i buy the upgrades now and they refund the difference but i think the main thing is they are aware there is an issue and probably it will get sorted.

    I have the same issue. I sent an email to tech support last week, and have yet to hear anything. I would gladly buy the list, and work on a refund later, but that is not an option. There is one song showing on my list of available iTunes Plus upgrades, that I have already upgraded. When I click on the link to buy the current list, I get the message about a selection not being available. I am trying to give Apple my money, but it's not easy.

    Just noting that I have the same problem. My upgrade list gets longer everyday, but when I try to purchase I get the "item no longer in store" error message. I put in a question to support so will see what happens.

    Thank you for posting your response from Apple. I have been having this same problem. I ran through a couple of iTunes Plus upgrades with no problem. The most recent batch will not upgrade with the same erroor message you received.

    I am glad to hear Appl eknows about this. I just hope they can resolve it quickly.

    It sounds like a widespread issue. I've been getting that error for about a week now. I did one very large upgrade on January 7th but many more songs/albums/music videos have been promoted to iTunes Plus since then. I have yet to hear back from Apple Support (only got the standard "The iTunes Store support team has received your message" message so far).

    I suppose keep on trying is all we can do for now.

    I am having this problem too. Most of my titles upgraded initially but now have I 12 more with this error. One of these was a video I downloaded while the first upgrade occurred so I wonder whether that has confused itunes.
    Lodged a report with itunes support which they acknowledged 3 days ago but no solution yet.

    I did get a response from iTunes support. Here is what they said:

    "Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported as we have had reports from other customers experiencing the same difficulty.You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.

    Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible. I will keep you posted!"

    Good news, although I still have not heard back from Apple, I noticed today that my list of upgradable items was smaller than the day before and clicking Buy succeeded! Hopefully this will also start working for the rest of you too, just be patient

    Same for me! Have upgraded all my titles now. No message from Apple though.

    OK so since making the original post i took the advice and contacted the iTunes store by email. This proved to be exactly the right thing to do. I had an exchange of emails with one of the people there and after several goes i have now updated my library to iTunes plus.

    I guess they have had some teething problems and are now beginning to overcome them.
