Jan 25, 2009 9:16 AM in response to John Galtby dsch,Thanks for this link. The only way the manual tells me to do this, that I can see, is to use the old Apple LaserWriter Utility (Windows) or Apple Printer Utility version 2.2, which I believe is only an OS 9 app (pp. 104 or 315-6). Since I'm on Tiger here, that seems like an awfully out-of-date (not to mention cumbersome) way to get the result I want. Do I really have to reinstall OS 9 and try to get Classic going in order to get a page-count printout? -
Jan 26, 2009 6:48 AM in response to dschby Stuart Hazeldine,These utilites will tell you the total page count for the printer but you can't use them with an Intel Mac because it can't run OS9 and the Windows version needs to be connected to a parallel port on the computer. -

DesktopsIf you had a computer that could run Classic, I can attest that Apple Printer Utility does indeed run under Classic, as well as direct-booted OS 9. -
Jan 26, 2009 3:32 PM in response to dschby dsch,Please: What I am trying to find out is, how do I get the printer to tell me how many pages it has printed? I am not trying to find out all the ways I can't get it to do that. The machine I have is shown below. I do not have access to other machines that could run Classic or anything else. Thanks!

Jan 27, 2009 6:25 AM in response to dschby Craigwd_2000,You could always try running SheepShaver on your Intel iMac to emulate Mac OS 7.5.3-9.0.4 just for running the Apple Printer Utility: http://tinyurl.com/b6vy7w. -
Dec 19, 2009 7:58 AM in response to dschby dsch,Well, I figured it out (with some help from a Unix guru I know of) by using Telnet, and got a config page showing I'm at just under 30,000 pages.
