This is exactly the same problem I am having after updating my firmware. I pick up and the call drops. I've been letting everyone go to voicemail and having to return their calls using NOT-AN-IPHONE phone to make calls.
Something is seriously wrong with this firmware. I've read on other boards that 2.2.1 updates AT&T's baseband.
People were putting the blame on the Superbowl. Honestly.Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.5)

There have actually been fewer such reports this time.MacPro Quad Core, Mac OS X (10.5.6), iPhone 3G (2.2) AirPort Extreme

When comparing side by side next to two other iphones with the same update, my phone has worse reception. May be it's a hardware issue.Windows XP
