I've searched high and low but can only find info on the macbook pro touchpad problem, which this is not.

Basically when I scroll down a webpage in any browser (Firefox or Safari) the browser sometimes quits, sometimes freezes or I get dumped back at the login screen. This also happens if I use the scroll bar or even attach a mouse and use the scroll wheel! I did a disc check and repair and even resorted to re-installing Leopard...all to no avail.

Does anyone else have this, know a fix or can shed any light on it at all? If it's a known issue, I'd like to read more about it as it's really bugging me. Maybe I should take it back to the Apple store?

Thanks

Did you install Safari 4? Being that is still in testing stage, it is possible it could have added something that does not help web browsing stability for certain websites. If not, let us know, and we'll find out what else might be wrong?

Office 2008 isn't exactly "clean". Office loves to install all sorts of fonts, and always because it is such a big application, it needs patches to work properly. Get the latest patches from http://www.microsoft.com/mac/

    Or get an alternative application*:

Are you including any third party dashboard widgets?

Day 1? You should have returned it to the store. Now, you'd best just report it to AppleCare and hope they can replace it for you. When a Mac doesn't behave from day one, it likely indicates a lemon.

Maybe try to erase cookies and cache? Other than that it sounds like you have a bad machine.

In the future remember, AppleCare is worldwide, except it appears South Africa.

No ideas, since it appears service centers have varying levels of flexibilities. It never hurts to call. Terms of use forbid us from guessing Apple's policy on the right.
