This occasionally happens to me, I'm not sure what causes it. The solution is to log out of MobileMe using System Preferences, close out of iWeb, and then to log in again. If it continues to happen you have to restart your computer and try again.

Same thing has been going on with me for the last two days. I have tried everything suggested on this thread and it is still not happening.
Apple has done something that is causing this problem. It has never happened before and it seems to match perfectly with recent update!

It is NOT related to the latest update. Please read the thread carefully and you will see that the same problem affects those who have NOT updated to 3.0.1.

    This is a MobileMe issue.

I am also having the same problem along with everyone here. I upgraded to ilife 09 and everything was fine until yesterday (the first time i tried to upload in a week). And it re-ups my whole site. I made no changes to my system, iweb and did no update to 3.01

Just adding my two cents: I believe the publishing errors are caused by the overload in traffic that this fiasco of a bug has generated. They need to fix this one soon or iWeb is out the door.

Updated my iLife 09 this last friday, then had this problem starting from saturday. Already sent my bug report to Apple's iWeb feedback.
Hope they fix it soon. iWeb has always been very buggy compared to the other products part of the suite iLife. I wonder what keeps Apple from revisioning this product heavily. I don't believe at all in that "Facebook will kill personal website" novel...

Did you bother to read the thread?
It is NOT an iWeb problem.
Many users have been using the new version of iWeb with no issues at all.
Users with both 3.0. and 3.0.1 are all having the same problem.
The issue is with a change that has been made at the MobileMe end.

I thought I would add my frustrated voice to this thread. Iweb was fine on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning the bug appeared. Apple, please tell us you are doing something about this- and soon.

I just heard from a mobileMe specialist with an email asking for me to capture data and send it to apple. I just need to find the 2 hours it will take me to read the email and carry out the IN DETAIL task they want me to complete.

Has anyone else had this email with Capturedata81.dmg ??

    Interesting Update:

I know earlier someone had asked if this "red" publishing problem was happening on '08 and '09 versions. Well, I have '08 on my other mac computer so I just tried uploading a new site. *The previous published sites stayed "blue"!*

As I've stated before I have had so many problems with iWeb '09 that I switched back to '08. When this update came out last week I thought maybe they maybe would have corrected the many errors. So on one of my macs I reinstalled '09. Well, I guess not.

So I know everyone in this discussion is trying to decided if it's iWeb, the 3.0.1 update, or if it's MobilMe. At this stage I don't think it really matters. I would say it's all 3. All I know is that the behavior is still correct with iWeb '08 and MobilMe.

So far in my books '09 is a huge failure.

Sad thing is this exact same thing happened when '08 came out. There were so many bugs in it that I had to resort back to '07 until about 2 updates into '08. I agree with the previous post... when will Apple give iWeb as much attention as the other iLife apps. They don't ever seem to be so buggy.

It's worth noting, that signing out of MobileMe, will turn off syncing, thus necessitating a complete resyncing of your data, when you turn it back on again. But perhaps more importantly, it will also turn of iDisk Sync. If you use iDisk Sync and have a lot of data on your iDisk, this could be a pain, because it will have to be completely resynced ... i.e., downloaded to your Mac from your iDisk.

    Thanks Ian.
Sorry for taking your useful time.
    Yes, I read the thread.
But the problem faced with an upgrade to iLife. I don't care if it was on the back-end infrastructure or on the client side. The fact I stated "iWeb has always been very buggy" still stays there, since release 2.0 there have been. Please read the topics wrt the comments in iWeb just to mention one. I didn't say anything so bad to get such a reaction from you.

All I did was correct your error.

The fact is that it isn't at all clear if MobileMe is the only problem, and not iWeb as well. My suspicion is that the iWeb update did play a role in this mess up, since Apple explicitly notes the update dealt with FTP issues. Whether you see it or not, the “Publish” to MobileMe does use a kind of FTP utility. I would bet money that in tweaking the external FTP utility in iWeb, the Apple programmers made unintended changes to the MobileMe Publish functionality.

At any rate I still haven't heard from the Apple engineers, who are supposedly working on my case and looking at my iDisk Website files. I'm hoping that behind the scenes all these Apple folks are comparing notes and that it's generally known there is a widespread problem going on, and not just a handful of isolated cases.

    Which one?
How can you assert iWeb '09 upgrade was not the only culprit?
