Mine works on my eMac which has USB 1.1 ports. Does your Acer have USB 1.1 or USB 1.0?

    Hi arnostu,

This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369 provides general tips that may resolve the issue.

Is the PC a laptop? If it is try the tips under *Laptop or portable connecting via USB?*

What security software is running on the PC? Try to reconfigure, temporarily disable, or uninstall, the security software. The tips under *Third-party software may be causing conflicts* may bypass the security software.

I know this post is now 2 years old, but I have been having similar problems with two 3rd Gen iPod Shuffles. I think I've found a solution, which I hope will save others some time.

Neither iPod Shuffle were recognised by my girlfriend's brand new i5 MacBook Pro or on my MacPro, however they were visible on my older MacBook Pro and on her very old XP PC.

I spent days trawling the internet. I followed all the advice on the Apple site, and even phoned Apple tech support and still nothing. This included removing iTunes completely, I'd even tried a complete re-install of her OS.

As a final "I wonder if", I tried them in an old USB 1.1 hub I'd forgotten that I had and BINGO I can see them both on my Mac Pro, and hopefully the new MBP.

Strangely both the iPod Shuffles are visible when I start up with Bootcamp into Windows 8 on the MP, but are only visible through the hub in SnowLeopard.
