Aug 7, 2008 10:30 AM in response to neuroanatomistby jjtd, seems strange though - that it won't do something as basic as accepting outlook invitations.
In Apple's words, "With support for custom-designed enterprise applications, iPhone becomes a must-have mobile device for businesses"
Go figure -
Aug 7, 2008 10:37 AM in response to jjtdby neuroanatomist,The Mac OS Mail app can handle them just fine, so I expect that capability will make it's way into a future iPhone software update. Since most enterprise users will have calendar events transmitted directly via MS Exchange/ActiveSync, I would guess that passing .ics attachments from the mail to the calendar app was a lower priority. -

Nov 14, 2008 6:40 PM in response to jjtdby jonas.lood,This is ridiculous, Iphone should support .ics files via mobile me? They tagged it as Exchange for the rest of us, yet the feature is available only if you setup a file to Exchange? -
Nov 14, 2008 7:34 PM in response to jonas.loodby modular747,Telling this to other iPhone users in this user to user tech support forum won't help. There is no one here who can do anything about it. If you want Apple to take notice, report it at the iPhone Feedback page. -
Jan 11, 2009 10:22 PM in response to jjtdby iski2fast,Actually, I have tested this a bit further. When I receive a meeting invite sent to my Exchange server email address, it shows up on my iPhone as an invitation, as I would expect. However, when I receive it via one of my 2 IMAP mail servers, I get the .ics attachement (with which I can do nothing).
Why is it that an Exchange server sending this makes it work? -
Jan 21, 2009 11:50 AM in response to iski2fastby BeltAndSuspenders,iski2fast, I snowboard too fast. Do you have calendar syncing turned on for your exchange account? I don't, and .ics files still show up useless in my exchange account. -
Mar 17, 2009 1:02 PM in response to BeltAndSuspendersby iski2fast,Sorry - took me a while to get back.
Ok, guide me through where you have calendar synching turned on. Do you mean in services on your workstation or on the exchange server? -
Mar 17, 2009 10:27 PM in response to BeltAndSuspendersby iski2fast,Update - ICS files will be supported by iPhone software 3.0.

Apr 13, 2009 9:08 AM in response to iski2fastby Louis24x7,I'm using iPhone OS 3.0 beta 2 and it still shows up as an .ics attachment. -
May 6, 2009 8:31 AM in response to jjtdby eloehfelm,Crappy workaround but at least you can see the ics info...
• open the mobileme web client
• click on the message with the calendar item in it
• click on the forward message button
You'll see all the code for the ics attachment in the view. It's ugly, but at least you can see what date and time you're scheduled for your hernia surgery -
Jun 17, 2009 1:18 PM in response to Louis24x7by ScottM,Alas, for the release version of iPhone OS 3.0, you still can not deal with meeting.ics invitations. I was really hoping that would have worked... -
Jun 17, 2009 1:28 PM in response to ScottMby TV Man,Yes, I just upgraded to 3.0 and have found that the .ics attachment is in the email with the right icon, but is not selectable. Apparently, this is a vapor feature.
