It depends on what the smart error is. Usualy it is a bad block. Few bad blocks can be ignored, but if there are lots you better replace the drive.
If you do not use lun masking, you can upgrade the firmware. I do not expect it to change the light to red. It's main advantage is the ability to put bigger disks in.Mac OS X (10.5.2)
Thanks for the thoughts, although I was in a tight time frame to replace the disk and have the server back up and running. I did do the upgrade and the light didn't change.ACTC, ACHD, ACDT, ACPT, Mac OS X (10.5.5)
