Currently Being ModeratedMay 11, 2009 11:16 AM (in response to brooksideglassman)On the iPod, go to Settings and set Shuffle to Songs.
Playlists will play shuffled.
Also, can I suffle a playlist and then move songs into a different order?
No because they are shuffled.
If you want them in your own order, in iTunes...
Select the playlist.
Turn off Shuffle.
Select the very first column header (before the track names).
Drag the songs up/down.
If you want the playlist copied to the iPod in this order, on the playlist name, right click and select Copy to play order, then sync the iPod.
Any reason your are still running 10.4.5 and have not upgraded to 10.4.11?iMac G5 (Rev B) ALS - 2 GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.6), silver mini, blue mini, silver shuffle
Currently Being ModeratedMay 11, 2009 11:19 AM (in response to brooksideglassman)The shuffle function in iTunes is independent that the shuffle function on the iPod. In the iPod, if you go from the main menu into the settings, you will find a shuffle option. You can change it to OFF, Songs, and Albums. Generally you want SONGS to randomly shuffle your music.
The iPod setting is universal to all "lists" you can play in the iPod (unlike iTunes where you can turn on/off shuffle for individual playlists). So... when you go to your playlist, it will be listed in alphabetical order (by artist I believe?). When you begin playing out of that playlist, it will play whatever song you start it with, but then after that, all other tracks from the playlist should play in random (shuffled) order.
So check your iPod and turn on the shuffle function in the settings menu.

Currently Being ModeratedMay 11, 2009 11:47 AM (in response to Chris CA)I had already went into the settings and set shuffle to songs on my ipod. It shuffles the whole library if I press shuffle songs, but all the playlists are organized aphabetically in the ipod ( either by title or artist)and that is how they play. I do have 1.4.11 just didn't adjust the message. I am trying the copy to play order trick right now. OK that did it. ThanksImac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

It shuffles the whole library if I press shuffle songs,
As it's supposed to.
If you select *Shuffle songs* from the main screen, it plays all songs on the iPod.
If you wan tot shuffle indivudual playlists, got Settings -> Shuffle and set it to Songs.
Then go to Music -> Playlists, scroll to a playlist name and press Play (not select).
Only that playlist will play and it will be shuffled.iMac G5 (Rev B) ALS - 2 GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.6), silver mini, blue mini, silver shuffle

I COULD NOT BE MORE UNHAPPY WITH THE NEW SHUFFLE. I RAN FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF TODAY AND HAD TO LISTEN TO MY MUSIC IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A "SHUFFLE" SWITCH IF IT WILL JUST PLAY EVERYTHING IN ORDER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I HAD IT SWITCHED TO SHUFFLE AND USING THE ANNOYING VOICE OVER TO CHANGE BETWEEN THE ONE PLAYLIST I HAVE SYNCED AND THE HORRIBLE ALL SONGS MODE ONLY SERVED TO PLAY ALL THE SONGS IN ORDER!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE POINT OF SHUFFLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

What does your post have to do with a 2.5 year old thread about iTunes on a Mac?
