Currently Being ModeratedJun 12, 2009 1:20 PM (in response to pink.)The same thing happened to me today. I have my computer set to "Open iTunes when iPod is plugged in" but somehow iTunes did not open. The iPod was stuck on the "Do Not Disconnect Screen" - frozen. Not even charging through the USB port. So, I thought that if I opened iTunes manually, the iPod will appear in the sidebar menu of iTunes and then I could safely eject it. That didn't happen ... nothing in the sidebar and the iPod still frozen. Finally I did the Select-Menu reset and was able to get to the Apple Menu and restarted the iPod. Fortunately this worked. As I got out of the frozen mode on the iPod, I felt that iTunes would now recognize the iPod so I shut down the computer and started up again with the iPod plugged in. Same thing ... the iPod would not appear in the iTunes sidebar. After a couple of times shutting down and restarting, the iPod was finally recognized. I immediately went into the Summary Menu of the iPod to check the settings and sure enough the box was still checked to "Open iTunes when iPod is plugged in" ..... could it be a problem with the latest release of iTunes 8.2 (23)?iMac G4, 1 GHz, 1GB DDR SD Ram, 3 USB 2.0 Ports
Currently Being ModeratedJun 18, 2009 8:34 AM (in response to ttgal)I tried to connect my iPod to my laptop w/ windows xp (it normally docks to my vista comp). My laptop has the previous version of iTunes (not 8.2) and the same thing happens.
I'm getting rather frusterated as I'm sure other people with the same issue are.Windows Vista
