After I installed the new iTunes/QT update (and before I downloaded any of the other recent updates), I can no longer put my Mac to sleep. The other REALLY weird thing is that most of my widgets no longer work, even Apple's own widgets. I tried rebooting, repairing permissions, and deleting non-working widgets. iStat Pro is about the only one still working. But now the "manage widgets" panel is frozen in my Dashboard and won't budge. Using OS 10.5.7. I never seem to have any problems with updates to OSX, only to iTunes and/or QT. Anyone have any ideas what might help?

    I hear ya.

Except that my problem relates to my no longer being able to play or view any of the movies I already had in my library in iTunes 8.2 -- BUT -- only, it seems, on my MacBook Pro running OSX Leopard. The same movies play and open no probs when I drag them over to my MacPro running OSX Tiger.

This problem began ONLY after I downloaded the iTunes 8.2/QT 7.6.2 Combo Update a day or so ago.

A very similar problem, I downloaded iTunes 8.2 etc. last night. Now I can't play any music. I thought I might try to trick it by playing something off a CD, no dice, it would rip the music but it wouldn't play anything. The volume control is grayed out - it looks like something in there is telling the computer to ignore the audio output.

I just tried a number of YouTube videos. I would guess that about 70% of them showed no motion and no sound but the progress bar moved along as expected. Perhaps 30% of them had appropriate moving vidio but they were not "talkies". I really hope we get an 8.2.1 upgrade real soon now.

Did you repair Disk Permissions with Disk Utility after the update?

Another problem here after update to iTunes 8.2/QT 7.6.2: I have my library on my time capsule and everything was fine but after the update it takes a bit less than 1 minute to start playing a song. It's not the connection to the time capsule cause the songs open perfectly in finder-preview.

Anybody else with this problem or even better a solution?

Anyone else finding that their ipod (i'm using an iTouch 32gb 2G) no longer is recognized by itunes. I had also downloaded the os update for iphone/itouch. If i look under about this mac it recognizes that an ipod is connected but no response from itunes.

I'm having problems too... 8.2 is very slow and hangs quite a bit. The biggest problem is my iPod Touch is no longer recognized- I get an error 0xE800001.

I'd love to just uninstall iTunes 8.2 and go back to 8.1.1, but I can't find an installer for iTunes 8.1.1 online anywhere... all links lead to the 8.2 download.

Hopefully Apple will have an 8.2.1 patch ASAP. Or at least provide the 8.1.1 download.

For those having an iPod that is not recognized - try the 5 R's for iPods. I have a iPod Photo, iPod Touch 2nd gen and an iPod Shuffle - all no problem being recognized. Updates Touch to 3.0 with no problem.

As noted before make sure that you repair permissions with Disk Utility.

Unfortunately, neither fixing disc permissions, reinstalling iTunes, nor "the 5 Rs" have fixed this problem... iTunes 8.2 steadfastly refuses to mount my iPod Touch.
