Likewise here ... my partner has tried to change things in the Preferences, Composed setting and still every time he goes to reply, all his previous conversation thread is discarded.
Any ideas on this one - would be very helpful as frustration levels are rather high :o)
BTW - it is only on REPLY, Forward it still works perfectly.

Still having this issue with the REPLY action inside Mail. When Reply is pushed, all of the conversation thread is immediately lost. It's been working perfectly for over a year and then out of the blue, it just started doing this.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks ...iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Currently Being ModeratedJun 24, 2009 8:28 AM (in response to thrilhill)I have the same issue with my Mail replies in which the original message does not show up. Works fine if I forward the email...
Anyone has this fix?MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Currently Being ModeratedJun 24, 2009 9:16 AM (in response to thrilhill)I've noticed if the email MIME Content-Type: text/plain with a charset=ISO-8859-1 then the original email on a reply does not show up. Those that are experiencing this issue, is anyone seeing this pattern also? i.e. view the message via option-command-u for 'raw source' to show the charset
If charset is US-ASCII it works fine for me..MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Currently Being ModeratedJun 24, 2009 5:10 PM (in response to Mr. KT)Im experiencing this problem too.
I checked two emails, both of which has the MIME charset that you describe, but in one, I can reply with original email quoted just fine, while with the other, the original email disappears.

Currently Being ModeratedAug 31, 2009 8:57 AM (in response to thrilhill)I resolved issue by going to "composing" in the mail preferences and checking all the boxes under the "responding:" section, including "quote the text from the original message", which previously had been unchecked.Powerbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6)
