Q: Download error. Tap to retry

After trying to rent a movie on iTunes directly from my iphone 3G (with 3.0) the movie appears in the downloads area but says 'Download Error. Tap to retry.' The movie will not download even if I'm connected to WiFi. How can I either get the movie to download or cancel the purchase? Have I been charged? At this point I'd like to just make it go away. Please help.

Make sure you all contact Apple about this issue. The more complaints, the faster we can get what we paid for. In iTunes you can check your purchases and from there, report a problem.

    Hi,
I have contacted SYGIC regarding this. They know about it and have been trying to contact/resolve it with apple all the day yesterday. They are not able to fix it as the issue is on the apple side. It's possible that the EU version of navigation is not correctly linked with apple store...All we can do is contact apple and hope they will fix it soon.

More on the #8003 error can be found on Sygic's site: http://www.sygic.com/press/europe-disabled.html ...

I have never seen anyone take this long to fix a link before. Surely a candidate for the Guinness World Records?

Good thing Mr. Jobs is back, maybe he can get Apple back on track..

Guys, if you're using an iPhone and still get the message "+Download error. Tap to retry+" like me, make sure your iPhone has plenty of space to redownload the file.

I was trying to download a 1.2 GB movie and it stopped after I switched apps and reconnected to my network. I then reconnected my iPhone to my computer and freed up a bunch of space before redownloading the movie and it finally worked again.

Just make sure you have plenty of space! A real ID10T error on my part. Hehe.

Apple has now issued a refund of my purchase and gave me five free song credits as a compensation. Sigh. All I want is the **** Sygic Europe software. This kind of compensation may be better than nothing but if they could just tell me what the actual issue is it would be the best compensation. Mistakes happen to anyone. When I, as a consumer, am being kept out of the loop like this, it really makes me disappointed.

I have had the same problem. How can I fix it? Does it do the same thing if you BUY the movie? Does it have this problem with TV episodes and music videos?

Huh? Like I said, make sure you have more than enough free space to download the file.

In my story, I downloaded a 1.2 gig movie. Paused it by switching to something else, downloaded new apps that took up space. Went back to my download and had the error message. I forgot that I downloaded other stuff and that took up the space needed for the movie. That's what happened with me.

Don't know which is worse: Apple not being able to fix a broken link in a week!, or Apple and Sygic both completely unable to communicate ANYTHING to the paying costumers during that same period.

I have been thinking about leaving the Windows platform, just to get away from MS. But now it seems to me like Apple is just as bad, totally ignoring the costumers. Good thing I bought an iPhone first, before investing in an iMac...

New version available, but it doesn't work either!

Seems like Apple just added the new file to the old account, instead of resetting and starting over. Of course the problem wasn't with the old file but with the setup, so this was never gonna work.

Sygic Europe is never gonna happen, as long is this issues isn't taken more serious.

Irritating as all this is, patience is needed re the app store. If you look at the store you will notice in each category that lots and lots and lots of apps are being updated each day because of the 3.0 release.

This faulty app is doubtless being looked at but will have gone to the back of the queue for whatever Apple do to add it to the app store.

If you use the 'report a problem' Apple are very good at getting back to you, but it is not an immediate response.

Sorry to say, but I think patience is the LAST thing we need, at least if it means not doing anything but wait, and so does the developer. It's quite obvious that Apple don't recoqnize the problem, as both the paying costumers who have been in contact with support, and Sygic have found out.

On their site, the developer actually ask the users to get in contact with app store support in great numbers, so Apple finally can understand that the problem is on their side.

So please, show no patience, if patience means waiting for someone else to fix the problem, but instead contact Apple support and tell them you are experiencing this problem too. Thanks!
