The 3Gs s u c k s the battery's life force in a few hours even when you disable 3G and turn the brightness down...and then some. That's pretty sad since it's supposed to have a longer lasting battery to begin with.

An example: I fully charge my phone to 100%. I then leave and drive 150 miles over a period of 2 1/2 hours without using the phone at all and when I get to my destination, it's at 89% charge level. That doesn't seem right.

My battery lasts all day. Did you turn off Bluetooth? If you're on the Internet all day or playing games, it will drain you battery but I use mine a lot and it lasts all day.

Bluetooth is off. Most of the features are off.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been very fortunate because my phones battery works perfect. I guess most iPhones are either working perfect and others are duds

Some people have fast drain on their 3GS batteries and some people claim they don't. I'm thinking 50% of the purchasers got bad batteries. It's the only explanation.

How do you come up with 50%?

Some do have battery problems. I highly doubt that it is anywhere near 50%.

I personally know 11 people with 3Gs and none have a battery issue.

Likely fewer than 5%. You don't see many posts from happy users in any support forum.

Hey, and what's the battery for if not to provide its Life Force to the iPhone

Well this is my 3rd iphone 3gs since it's release due to extremely bad battery life.
While at the apple store there were three others customers complaining about battery life and I have three other friends with the same problem...so I'm hoping that apple is aware of us 5% . I am also hoping that they are aware of how warm the phone is getting cause I hear that it is turning the white cases another color....

We have three 3GS units in the family and all are doing fine re battery life. We've all upgraded from earlier iPhones (one 2G, two 3G).

I saw the shot of the white phone with some green on the case. I'm sure it happened but equally sure it's not widespread.

There are a couple things you can do to avoid having your battery die so fast. 1st thing - turn off bluetooth if you are not using it, and reduce the brightness a bit (if you can handle it), but even more importantly don't keep the phone completely full and then charge it when you go to bed - it's important to let the battery completely die (past 10%) when you charge it. If you keep your phone charged all the time and charge it again at night you will end up with shorter usage times.

I know just short of two dozen people and not one of them has had any problem at all! Guru, if you are having a problem, the first thing you should do is make an appointment with a genius. If the battery is as bad as you say you'll probably walk out with a brand new phone in less then 10 minutes! If you have a problem they WILL take care of you...

You can be assured that Apple is watching this closely and that they will definitely make it good. What other company tries to resolve issues with their product. Apple has always stood behind me and made any of my issues good WAY beyond my expectations. Give them a chance and they WILL take care of you.

Apparently the 3.1 firmware seeded to the devs is supposed to have a fix for the bad battery life. Us lay persons will just have to wait for it to be released!

So, I had this problem, went to apple store, they told me a majority of ALL battery problems are software issues. So... they had me do a clean restore and set my phone up as new with itunes as there could have been a problem with my back up file. I did this and my battery problems seem 100% better. I would try that, if nothing changes demand a replacement!!!
