Problem here: you do not know if your replacemet phone will be compatible with os 3.0. There are quite a few who upgraded their replacement iPhone to OS 3.0 again and guess what - they ended up having the same messed up wifi connectivity.

I'm afraid they (Apple), while trobleshooting, try to connect to an wifi spot and succeed and refuse to repair it or replace it. Because I am able to connect to my wifi spot if I'm right next to it. I can't if I'm like 10 meters away where it did work previously and all my other devices work. I can also connect to my friends wifi network even outside his house.

I also feel that my battery is draining faster and overall performance of my iphone is slower...

Folks same here. Got a new 3G(s), it connects fine to the Wi-Fi at work but not to my Airport Extreme at home. Went through all the typical remedies on this and other sites, to no avail. Phone shows my network but is unable to connect to it, doesn't matter whether I do this manually or not, no effects of resetting, nothing works. Also phone shows extremely weak signal strength while my imac next to the phone shows full strength. Called Apple, that did not help. Any ideas? Thanks

Same thing here, no wi-fi and if you have the app wi-finder that keeps closing too.
Anyone know if they are going to post a fix? and soon?

....yet another annoyed post iPhone 3.0 upgrader. I used to love my iPhone for browsing the web either via 3G or Wi-Fi. Since I upgraded to OS 3.0 my wi-fi only works if I'm literally next to my access point (yet it used to work up to 50 metres away and all my existing other PC's, Mac's etc all still work fine). On top of that I no longer seem to get any 3G coverage where I live, yet I used to have pretty good coverage. This has turned my iPhone from a useful web device into an annoying phone only - come on Apple get your finger out and fix this problem with an update and soon! Needless to say my attempts to contact Apple have been to no avail.....currently it's not worth the monthly subscription and the os 3.0 "improvements" seem marginal at best

I had the wifi connection problems as described in the initial posts on this thread (spontaneous drop outs; weak signal; loss of connection when in standby; corrected only by resetting the phone and/or the network settings). I was unsure whether it was a software or hardware issue because I had my phone replaced for a cracked casing virtually concurrent with updating to OS 3.0. I took the replacement phone with wifi problems in to the Genius Bar and they replaced it, once again. Since then wifi has worked as it should and as it did on my original phone running 2.2.1. So, in my case it was a hardware issue, although it may have been triggered by the 3.0 update. However, I have no way of knowing this for sure since I had virtually no usage with the affected replacement phone prior to the 3.0 update.

i had an app called remote, which i recently updated to a 3.0 compatible version. remote used to work great, like i could be in another room and control my itunes on my macbook pro, from my iphone. i hadn't used remote in a while, and i had updated to 3.0. I was testing some apps out after installing the 3.0 update. when i went to use remote, i created an ad hoc network on my laptop and when i went into the remote app i was briefely able to control itunes. like i could play a song or skip to another song etc. then the remote app, would stop working and would say i needed to be on wifi. i opened settings on my iphone and my iphone connected to my ad hoc network but like every 20 seconds it would say not connected and then it would reconnect. i have used wifi from two different libraries, and i don't have the disconnect problem, but i have a question: i am currently at the library and i looked on my iphone and my iphone connected to the library's wifi and stayed connected, but when my iphone went to sleep and i woke it from sleep it would go to 3g and after a couple of seconds it would go to wifi, is this normal? also why does my iphone disconnect from my adhoc network and not disconnect from the library's?

Hi just got off the phone to Apple support. They state Wifi / Bluetooth drop outs and non connection is "An Emerging Issue" They offered me a replacement phone but stated the Wifi / Bluetooth and battery problem may happen again if I upgrade the replacement which would ship with 2.21 to OS3. They further stated a future software update would fix the problem but refused to give any time scale. Considering what we pay for the phone you would expect them to get the updates right. Every update seems to cause issues to different basic essential user requirements.2 years on and I am now seriously considering an alternative replacement which should launch in August.

I was out of the country without a broadband connection when 3.0 was released so I didn't download it until the June 26. So far I have not experienced this issue.

My iPhone goes into sleep mode and when it awakes I am still able to access my wifi connection at home.

Did apple modify the 3.0 download between June 17 and June 26 or am I just lucky so far?

Yup, I'm having the same issue with my 3GS... No WiFi at home anymore after 3.0... Most of the time it will ask me for my password, I provide the correct one, it just keeps asking. I have an appointment set tomorrow to hopefully get it replaced... Should I ask for a new one? Do you think it is hardware or the 3.0 software?

Top three issues with the new 3GS are:

    No WiFi
    Battery Drains Quickly
    Overheating

    Nice.

    "An Emerging Issue"- finally!

OK, now when I get my new replacement iPhone after "up to 4 weeks" in Vodafon Italy I should leave it on 2.2.1 system? And then wait for some 3.0.1 patch so that I don't kill it again?

I am having the same issue with my 3G. I installed 3.0 the day it came out on my phone and my wife's phone (also a 3G). Today, my wifi started being flakey at best, or not working at all. My 3G & E connection works fine. My wife is not experincing any issues at all with her phone, yet. I had no issues with the upgrade & wifi for what, almost 2 weeks? So, I restored my phone thru iTunes and that did not solve the issue. I guess I'll be calling Apple soon.

    Hmm!

My phone forgot it's security key once as well. My lord people, the 3.0 firmware sure is turning out to be very buggy. How long was it in testing? I do not get it... My phone has had multitude of issues since the update.
