3.0 Upgrade WIFI problem

    I have full signal bars on the touch. Every now and then it says Safari has timed out. So I have to turn it off, give it a few mins, then turn it on again. It works for a little while, then I have go through the turning off and on again.
    Never had any probs when it was on version 2. I'll give it a few days and then I'll kick up a stink.
    Apple do read these posts.

    I contacted the Applecare Iphone Technical Support in the Netherlands about this problem. This was the first time they heard about this! After half an hour talk the technical support advised me to reset the Ipod and not set back the backup copy. So, I did that, but that did not change the situation at all. I called back and they again confirmed that I am the only one having this problem, so guys, pls call the Applecare Iphone helpdesk to report this problem, so that Apple will start to look at this seriously.
    When I called back , I again had a long talk and now they ask me to try to change the settings (channels, security , etc) on my Linksys wrt54G router. So, I will try that now.
    But, again, PLS GUYS, CALL THE APPLE HELPDESK TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM!

    Since upgrading my iPod Touch 1G to OS 3.0, my Wifi connection is gone. I cannot even connect to my own home network, yet I have no problem with my new iPhone 3GS. I'm pretty sure the new upgrade is the culprit, from all the complaints I've read. Like all who have upgraded, I paid $9.99 for something that is obviously defective. I'm not happy at all with Apple, as they appeared to have totally ignored this problem. Does anyone know how to file a complaint, without having to call them, since I am out of warranty? Thank you.

    I used the "report a problem" link on my email invoice for the 3.0 purchase... a couple of emails back and forth and they have referred me to their technical support team who they say may be able to help (but I'm guessing from everyone else's comments here that isn't going to happen).

    Got a few 'song credits' for the "inconvenience", so at least that's something I guess. I wasn't expecting a full refund as it's "only" the wifi that seems to be completely banjaxed, and it's not so critical to me.

    If I get a chance I will call them later on to see what they say about any planned update to fix the issue though.

    This thread now runs for 12 pages and not a word from Fort Jobs. Does anyone know if the crowd at 1 Infinite Loop bother to read these discussion pages? Perhaps not right now because the time in Cupertino is 0655hrs but may be when they have opened the office, settled down after a coffee and a chat at, say 1000 hrs, they could pay some attention to the customers!

    It's twelve pages of complaints and not one of you have shared that you have done anything to your iPod to try and make the problem go away. Those of us that routinely hang out here have posted solutions that work but it I guess it is easier to whine. There was even one poster who refused to try anything - "it's Apple's problem and they can fix it".

    Well, it's your iPod and maybe you would want to fix it.

    I've tried all suggestions but nothing works for me.

    Restart and reset the iPod
    Reset my network settings
    Use "other network" to log back into my network
    Change my encryption to WPA-psk & WPA2-psk
    Change SSID
    etc...

    The “Speedtest” app register below 100 kbps download speed with OS 3, but with 2.2.1 register over 6500 kbps download speed . A few days ago I downgrade to 2.2.1 and now the wifi works perfect!

    I am waiting for the official fix to get back to OS 3.

    Um, *raises hand*... not true - I've tried all sorts, and spent a good few hours of my time, to get it to work, as I'm sure others have. Have you not read the entire thread? Lots of people trying to reset their networks, change the broadcast channels, reset their ipods, etc.

    Um yeah OK davenewt no one here has tried anything. Have you read all twelve pages???? Having TRIED EVERYTHING myself including going back to 2.1 I can assure you there IS a problem.

    Amen to that! I'm sure everyone who posted in this thread has tried everything!! My question is why in the **** do we have to disect our iPods just to accomodate this update??? Seems to me judging by all these posts there is a problem and Apple needs to acknowledge it!

    I did have partial success. Let me say, I do not have a home wireless network; and only connect my Touch to one wireless location. But, after one post-upgrade failure, I did succeed after finding that I had to reenter my password for the iPod, somewhere in the Settings. After that, I experienced a long connection time, but it did connect. (Yes, I did the restart stuff. The rest of the suggestions, regarding the types of channels etc, I simply do not understand.) And don't recall, with the previous upgrades, having to do anything at all to my settings. Perhaps Apple has been remiss in not providing enough instruction.

    now it is clear that apple wont reply to us by the way apple i guess i ve to try the zune hd or creative zen xi-fi at least both companies would reply to me if am having problem "dam u apple"
