Q: 5300ce - os 8.6 - scsi port
Want to transfer all data from 5300 hd to mac mini with 10.3. I have 5300 SCSI cable. What do I need to do?

Hi that sounds like the device I'm suggesting. It looks like a cube with places on the sides to plug in your hard drive.
Re take apart. It is pretty straight forward as long as you have a torx screwdriver to take out the screws.
Basically take out the three on the bottom then flip over and take off the keyboard.
Once the keyboard is off you slide back the trackpad which is clipped on in front and lift it off.
Now you will see the caddy holding the hard drive. It is held on with 3 screws across the front, take these off and the hard drive can be removed. It is held in with 4 torx screws. All the screws take the same size driver which should be a torx 8 but I will double check.
Once the drive is out just unplug it from the cable, I usually put a sharp blade between the plug and drive and gently work the connector off. Pulling it can break it or bend the pins on the drive.

Btw there are folks like me who collect older PowerBooks so try not to damage her! Especially a CE as these were the top of the line 5300.
