Q: Ford (Microsoft) Sync and iPhone 3.0 Bluetooth - how do I disable it?

I have a 3G iPhone with the 3.0 software and drive a Ford with the Microsoft Sync package (bluetooth and USB). Before the 3.0 software, the iPod on the iPhone played through USB and the phone worked over bluetooth just fine.

Now the iPhone starts playing music over Bluetooth media streaming once I start the car, it's a random track and I have no control over what is selected.

I want to disable the Bluetooth streaming without disabling Bluetooth entirely. Any suggestions?

worst voice recognition feature i've ever seen in my life. I tell Sycn to 'call David Cowgill' and it dials 'Pamela Holt'.

not even remotely close to the name. i get no help from syncmyride.

I think this is microsofts way to get back at apple.

if anyone can help me with this i would appreciate it.

I don't have a car with sync, but I do have a Bluetooth/USB capable pioneer head unit, and I am having the exact same issues.

If you guys haven't done so already, I would suggest submiting feedback regarding this to apple:

I have a F-150 and a 3Gs. This problem is fixed by going into your car menus and turning off auto-play for bluetooth devices. I had this issue but no longer do. good luck. If you can't find the setting in the car menus repost.

I'm having this same problem. Ford SYNC support says this is an issue with the latest Iphone firmware. Supposedly before the latest firmware update streaming was not ever supported by SYNC. Apple PLEASE FIX THIS! I just got a 2009 Ford Escape, and I love it but getting blasted by random music really *****!

Same problem here. iPhone 3G with 3.0 and a Ford 2009 Fusion with Sync.

I have an iPod Nano that I plug in via USB to listen to podcasts or whatever on the way to work. Frequently I'll get out of the car, walk to the elevator and hear random music playing from my iPhone in my pocket. What a PITA. iPhone, I did not ask you to start playing music, so quit it! Sure would love for there to be a way to set the iPhone to quit using Bluetooth for iPod music playing and only enable for the phone features.

Same problem, I have a Motorola T505 BT, and a Neo pro adapter for my car stereo.
Both worked great with iPhone OS 2.n, but since I installed 3.0, it's one or the other but not both. Apple needs to "fix" a selection in the phones setting for On or Off of A2DP, otherwise it's a great product.

I am now finding that if I leave the Bluetooth media streaming with my Ford Sync, the music from the iPod skips very frequently. This does not happen if I am using my Bluetooth portable speakers.

The auto play random song feature is still ongoing, unfortunately.

I was really bummed to read this thread. I bought my Fusion in December because of the Sync features. And, I was going to buy my first iPhone tomorrow. But, after reading here and on a couple of other blogs, I don't think I will. I already carry around a phone and an iPod. I wanted the iPhone so that I only need one device. I decided to post here because I hope Apple will eventually fix this problem. When they do, maybe someone will post here and I'll know that I can get the phone.

I have a 2009 F150 with SYNC and even with the Auto-Play off in the SYNC preferences, it plays via BT the second i turn the truck on.

Like everyone else, it is driving me nuts. And as mentioned, it causes the audio from the USB connection to mute for some reason so I then have to go to the iphone to pause the song that's playing via BT, switch media back to USB, re-select the song etc ...

I guess I'm glad it's a known issue - but frustrates me no less.
