I've discovered an oddity with the variable podcast play speeds, namely that although the icons say "1/2x" and "2x", the actual play speeds are precisely 0.8x and 1.5x (at least on my iPhone 2G, OS 3.0, with the audio podcasts I've tested). I do think that true 1/2x or true 2x would probably be too slow and too fast, respectively, to be listenable, but it baffles me that the icons are incorrect.

Just thought I'd throw this info out to the public for those where wondering why they weren't blazing through their podcasts at the double speed they thought they were on.

Hey, where are these variable podcast speed controls located? I am having a weird problem with spoken word podcasts apparently speeding up - they seem to be running at 1.5 times the normal speed.

    Ok, found it!
    1. go to a podcast that is playing too fast.
    2. find button on right upper corner area that says "2x" || "1/2x" || "1x"
    3. adjust as desired

I'm having the same problem on my new iPhone 3G S. I don't see that button on my podcast.

Wait again! I have played and played around(and around) and STILL do NOT see those images (2||1.5|1)

    Can someone please help?

    * All I see, when playing, for example, a "Fresh Air" episode, is the name of the podcast, an arrow to go to the previous page, and a button with 3 bars that takes you to the list of all "Fresh Air" podcast you have available.

    * When you click that icon (the 3 bars) it takes you to a page whre you can rate the podcast and has the name and time listed.

That's it -- no way to adjust speed.

(Why is this speed setting in there anyway? Who wants to listen to "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" at double time>? It's fast enough....

Tap the center of the screen while it's playing and the progress bar should appear, along with the speed control and an e-mail icon.

    Got it -- thanks.

Any idea why it's set up that way? Just curious...

    Thanks Craig.
