Currently Being ModeratedJul 16, 2009 9:19 PM (in response to walexm311)UPDATE:
- I emailed back and fourth between a man at the iTunes store, but he was unable to fix the problem so he directed me to technical support over the phone
- Technical support was also unable to fix the problem and he suggested completely erasing iTunes from the computer and re-installing it. So I followed the directions gave on the Support site to fully delete iTunes and then I re-installed it. Surprise Surprise, it still did NOT fix the problem! AGHH This is so frustrating!macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Currently Being ModeratedJul 29, 2009 10:17 PM (in response to walexm311)Are you in a country that has free downlaods of the week? Can you get one of them and play it? Sometimes playing one of the latest songs fixes the DRM stuff.
If you right-click > Get Info on that AIM app, on the Summary tab does anything look weird about the Purchased By or Account Name? As compared to an app it doesn't think it has to delete.
I suggest emailing back to that Apple employee and ask that this issue be escalated, because reinstalling had no effect, nor did deleting the SC Info folder. They will probably just tell you to redownload it again ; )
Which I guess is OK for some apps, but you'd lose all the stats or entered data from some of them, depending on the app.iMac 10.5 or WinXP SP3, Other OS, external hard drive, B-W U2 iPod, 1G shuffle, 2nd gen Nano
Currently Being ModeratedJul 30, 2009 9:38 PM (in response to Katrina S.)Count me in on this problem too. Tried everything to get itunes to play what I have purchased, including deleting the SC file and downloading the latest freebie.
Anybody have any new ideas?
Honestly, if apple can't adress this issue, they should start issuing refunds!
Currently Being ModeratedJul 31, 2009 6:52 AM (in response to pjerl)Same issue for me. Not devastating since everything ends up synching but to have to repeatedly put in the password is a PITA. I wonder if this has something to do with synching on a MAC at home and a PC at the office?PC, Windows XP Pro
Currently Being ModeratedJul 31, 2009 7:57 AM (in response to Katrina S.)Thanks for the reply, but sad to say I have tried this and it didn't work. The weird thing is that when I got the iPhone, I gave the old iPod touch (the one that was originally having this problem) to my girlfriend and I completely restored the iPod. She then had to create an apple ID and then synced it up with her computer. Even after the restore and syncing it with a different computer and different apple ID, she still had this same problem. My father also has an iPhone and he says that he has the same problem too. He also syncs it to a different computer. So that's 3 different devices, synced with 3 different computers, and we are all having the same problem. This has to be a problem with iTunes because none of us have ever logged into our apple accounts on any of the other computers. This problem may seem small, but it is so annoying!macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)
Currently Being ModeratedSep 9, 2009 4:25 PM (in response to walexm311)UPDATE: I upgraded my itunes to iTunes 9, and my iPhone software to 3.1. The iPhone update failed and I had to restore my iPhone. It re-synced from one of my backups after the update and sure enough the problem still exists! I really wish apple would recognize this problem and send out a fix for it since it looks like a lot of people are constantly having this problem and no one is being able to fix it.macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.5)
Currently Being ModeratedOct 4, 2009 9:02 PM (in response to walexm311)Hi, I've had the same problem than you. I'm running Windows 7, so, I don't know if this might help you but, it doesn't harm anyone.
I just run iTunes in admin mode. And like magic it worked. I spent all the day to fix this thing...
Anyway, maybe this'll help.

Currently Being ModeratedOct 9, 2009 12:17 AM (in response to walexm311)I am having the same issue after migrating to Snow Leopard. I'm on iTunes 9.0.1.
It has been almost a month now that I have not been able to play purchased DRM songs on my Macbook Pro or on my iPod touch.
I have also tried all the known suggestions, to no avail. I have also found Apple support to be unknowledgeable, unresponsive, and useless.Macbook Pro unibody 15", Mac OS X (10.6.1)
Currently Being ModeratedOct 9, 2009 1:00 AM (in response to vishalk)I'm having the same problem. It started after upgrading to iTunes 9.
I had been using iTunes 7 on a windows vista for a couple of years, always using the same user ID to purchase music and I have only one iPod (ipod Video).
I decided to finally upgrade to iTunes 9. I was a bit worried about the authorizations, since I knew I had already authorized 5 computers, 4 of them of which I no longer are in possession of.
After installing 220.127.116.11, I was quite relieved, as it gave me the opportunity to de-authorize old computers from any PC(I don't think this was possible on earlier versions..?).
But as said, I also have to authorize items that I have bought on iTunes every time I start iTunes. There is no problem playing the songs from my iPod.
Any solution greatly appreciated!Windows Vista
