I noticed that some of the icons changed overnight on some of my apps. The ones that changed are using icons from other apps (e.g., Camera Zoom is using the icon for MetrO, Klondike Forever is using the icon for MyPhone +). Any ideas on how to restore the icons? I tried restarting the phone and it did not help.

Thanks!

I had the same icon swapping experience which happens on only the app store applications. Noticed it on the same day I got my iphone. Called Apple CS and they thought I had my iphone jail broken but told me to restore yada.. yada.. but the icons went crazy again. Anyway, I have found out that you if avoided doing a 'Hard Reset' (Holding both the Home and Power buttons together till the iPhone shuts and powers up) your icons and labels remained intact. For affected users, restore your phone and synch the apps back (or download them again directly on your iphone).

    Apple anyone?

When the app is re-downloading, tap the icon to pause the download. Power down the phone and then power back up. Tap the app's icon again to resume the download. The icon should "stick" this time.

What about icons that are already mixed. Is there a way to fix them with out deleting them then reinstalling them to do that?

What the **** is going on with this Iphone 3GS? I never had these problems on the 3G. Apple should have charged less for the 3GS or even gave it away for free with all these problems....

Sorry you are having problems with your iphone.

Most never experience a problem at all. In over two years I have yet to have a problem or meet anyone personally who has.

If Apple had charged less, then everyone who purchased a previous version would riot in the streets.

There's no way to make everyone happy.

I just got my 3GS last Friday and started having the same problem Sunday morning. After restoring to original and adding everything back manually and not from backup it lasted until tuesday. They then told me to remove all the apps from my iPhone and then delete them all from iTunes and then add them back in one by one.

I'm sure you can figure out how happy I was about this but I did it. Didn't work and it actually was worse than before. I did notice that the icons only get screwed up after a reset.

Went to the genius bar today and got a new 3GS. They told me it was a hardware issue causing mine.

    Good Luck...

Let me know if it happens again with the new iphone 3gs! email me at lamoni@comcast.net If it doesnt then I might need to return mine as well. The only reason I said what the **** is happening with the iPhone 3GS is because I have read so many issues on this discussion board...

This happened to me. I also tried deleting the apps and reinstalling them and it didn't work. I did a reset holding the power button and the home button and it fixed them. I haven't had it happen again since.

out of curiosity do you have auto brightness on?
because i have not had any problems with my 3gs until i turned on auto brightness
it started to freeze ( had to press the home button multiple times for it to work), my icons started to change.
i turned it off and reset the phone, everything works fine now

I will let you know. I think until 3.1 comes out I'm just going to avoid restarting the phone all together since that seemed to be a major factor in my problem. I also won't be deleting apps for it either since it seemed the icon got stuck somewhere in memory because there were icons on some of the apps that I didn't have on my iPhone anymore.
