And assuming the aux power plug is connected it sounds like a dud, doa, or the seller is 'mistaken.'

The Early 2008 required the 2nd edition 8800GT due to EFI64, so yes.
And if your system used 667MHz FBDIMM. I wish Apple did a better job updating their specs pages though, so when higher density RAM, larger hard drives, new graphic cards, they could include those and make it easier on us and customers.
OWC keeps a holder page, so even when an item is gone you can see what it is/was. Rather than get "404" gibberish.
Nvidia also had a page that is now gone.
