Born, raised, and live in the Chicagoland area. Worked on IBM Mainframes as a systems programmer for 30 years, moved on to infrastructure support including Linux, Windows, Solaris, and AIX. Owned and used Macs since 1985, diddled with Apple II prior to that. Senior Software Engineer on IBM Mainframes, moved on to support for Solaris, then infrastructure components like NetBackup, ISC DHCP, and BIND DNS. Did in-house development for a major midwest university medical center using a Mac and Xcode - ported code to RHEL and Solaris. Now retired. Retired on the same day my employer flushed over 500 IT employees, transferring their employment to a temp agency to avoid severance. Spooky coincidence.
