BioI'm Jessa, the microsoldering mom
https://ifixit.org/blog/6911/micro-soldering-mom/
I have four kids and a ton of devices. When my kids started breaking them, I started fixing them.
I run a successful mail-in board repair business for mobile devices, I run a course to teach other general repair shop owners how to do board repair. I'm an advocate for the Digital Right to Repair, and for repair in general. I maintain an active blog and YouTube channel (iPad Rehab) that is all about inspiring the independent repair community continue to evolve best practices in repair.
I am a consultant for iFixit and the development of a certification standards for mobile device repair. My opinions on independent repair have been featured in articles by NPR, NBC news, Motherboard Vice, and CNET.
In my former life I was a stay at home mom. Before that, I got a PhD in molecular genetics from Johns Hopkins and spent time as a biology professor and ran a small research lab. I fix really small stuff. Constantly. Mostly iPhones. Although my PhD is in pancreatic cancer, about a year ago I realized I knew more about iPhones than cancer. Sheesh.Bio
