Something to try for screen flickering.

If you're one of those people who experience noticable flickering after waking up from a long sleep i.e. overnight or after the computer's been powered off awhile, try this as an experiment.

Next time you're done using the computer, LOG OUT (not shut down). You will have the logon screen where you're supposed to enter your password. Just close the lid and sleep the computer and go to bed or something, and then next time you open it, see if it's flickering or not.
