Audio recording limit?

Hello. I'm running Logic Express on a MacBook Pro connected to a Firebox. I'm trying to get Logic Express to record longer than 90 minutes or so without stopping. Currently I've had to do tricks like set the number of beats per measure to 99, but I still cant get it to just sit and record for four hours.

Also, sometimes during recording...recording just stops with the message "Disk is too slow".

Can anyone help me with these two issues? Thanks in advance. 🙂

Hi, Mighty,

recording just stops with the message "Disk is too slow".

Unfortunately, though your MBP is a great computer, notebooks come with a slower hard drive. Most people find it necessary to get an external firewire drive to record to, with a drive that is at least 7200rpm (yours is 5400).
With such an external drive, you will be set.

Sorry for the bad news.

Hrm, I was able to record just fine with Cubase LE on my older Powerbook G4. So while I do appreciate your answer, there's got to be more to this problem.

Can you point me at any discussion threads about this issue?

Is there some sysctl or cachesize I can tweak to help matters? I'm fluent in UNIX so I'm not afraid to get deep with my laptop.

It's important for live recording to minimize the number of boxes I have.
