The 5th Generation iPod's are the new iPod Nano, the new iPod Shuffle, and the iPod video.

I thought that it was just the iPod Video that was 5th Generation. The current iPod Shuffle is the 2nd Generation of the Shuffle.

There have been two versions of the 5th Generation iPod with video. The current one is the Late 2006 model. As a previous poster pointed out, if you are buying from the Apple store you'll get the latest model. You can distinguish the Fifth Generation iPod (Late 2006) from the original Fifth Generation iPod by the last three digits of the serial number. V9K, V9P, V9M, V9R, V9L, V9N, V9Q, V9S, WU9, WUA, WUB, WUC, and X3N. The Fifth Generation U2 Special Edition iPod (30 GB Late 2006) serial number's last three digits are W9G: Identifying different iPod models

It's probably the original 5th Generation since it doesn't end in any of the digits quoted in the article above. Also I would guess that since S comes before V that would most likely make it earlier.
