Update software, then restart...TWICE?

Update software, then restart...TWICE?

Is there anything to worry about if you do a Software Update, then when it restarts, it shows the little spining image for a while, then restarts, and after about 20 seconds of the spining image, it starts up? It used to not restart a second time. It's done this on two Software Updates in a row.

1 GHz PowerPC G4 iMac

I believe this is normal; or at least both my Macs did it too. Back in 10.4.6 and 10.4.7 Apple advised in the supporting articles that this would happen but seem not to have put that reassuring comment in this time. I've left feedback for Apple about that.

Hello Jesse:

My G4 did the same thing, and everything is running normally (I have not updated the G5 yet). As I recall, this has occurred before in some updates - I think I read that it was updating firmware. In any event, it happened during my update as well.

P.S. I just reread the documentation and nothing was mentioned about the restart.

Ditto Barry's reply. I've had the double start on my G4 iMac and MacBook for the last few OS updates.
