Anyone know if there is anyway to get my new MBP to work with my HP Scanjet? After spending all this money on the computer I'd really like to not have to buy a new scanner now.
Hi, I just found out I have the same problem, 4300->intel c2d...
I believe there is a third party driver set up, not sure about any other details, I am working on this issue as we speak..My HP 1210psc works great....L
Just curious, what issue are you having? When I plug in my scanner nothing at all happens. The computer doesn't seem to even know its there. Also this is a brand new load of Mac as I just got my system last week.
well, looks like we're out of luck. It did find the scanner when it loaded but says its not supported on Mac. So much for all those adds that Mac OS recognizes more devices than any other OS...
So far I love my Mac but I have to say its been a rather disappointing adventure overall.
Thanks for all your hard work, if you do end up finding something that works please let me know...
on install disk for mac or for the scanner? I've had this thing a while so will have to search around to see if I can find the CD if thats what you're talking about.
Many printers & scanners more than five years old do not have updated Universal drivers for Intel based Macs. I use VueScan for my six year old HP 6300 scanner -- it is very good, easy to use. I bought a 'lifetime' subscription, but there are less pricey levels, as I recall.
That software was on the install disk for the scanner, but as Bruce Pribram mentions, it may not be a Universal Binary, so would need to work via Rosetta.
Actually, I've downloaded and installed the software you're talking about and when I plug in the scanner it says it sees it and that it specifically is not supported... so not an option.
