PAL Photo at 16.9?

You can resize it in Photoshop. Make sure it's set to RGB and not something else. Or you can simply scale the photo in FCP via the motion tab. If your photo is more 4X3 you'll have to crop the top and bottom of the image no matter what.

are you working in HD? If so, 1920 X 1080 pixels will work. I don't know what the resolution is for 16:9 standard Def but you can always half the 1920 X 1080 and adjust the size in FCP.

The point is is to get the photo around the same size as your number of pixels in your FCP sequence and adjust in FCP from there.

It's hard to screw this up so you should be fine.

PAL resolution is 720 X 576. This is in the FCP manual and all over the internet. You might just want to do a google search on pixel aspect ratio for PAL 16:9. you'll find your answer. But really all you need to do is to resize your image in FCP to this or preferrably larger and resize the rest in FCP.

In photoshop, create either at 720x576 with DV PAL pixel aspect ratio, or 1024x576 at square pixel aspect ratio. The pixel aspect ratio settings are in the Image Size dialogue box.
