Does the imac have a CD and DVD rewriter?

Hi, I have just bought an imac today and apple are sending it to me. I'm so excited. However, I am concerned bcause I have heard that there is no CD or DVD rewriter? Is this the case? Because this would be a big negative for me!
Thanks.

imac, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Hi there misspickled!

I assume you're buying a new intel iMac, and yes, you will be able to read and write (rewrite) on both CD's and DVD's. My only advise would be to purchase quality CD/DVD's

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.

All Macs on sale today can burn CDs. All but the base iMac can burn DVD±RW Dual Layer (Apple calls this a 'Superdrive'). If you did order the base model 17" iMac give Apple a call and upgrade the order to the 17" iMac with Superdrive (there are several other plus points too).

  • Combo drive = CD-R, CD-RW and DVD-ROM.
  • Superdrive = CD-R CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD+R DL.
