Quad core -> Octo core

Is it possible to swap out the 2 dual core processors and replace them with 4 core?

Powerbook G4 / Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Geez dude...this has only been answered about a million times so far. But I'm in a really bad mood today so, yes it's possible.....no it's not practical, not unless you want to spend 80% of the cost of an 8 core Mac on procs...

And what about the power supply, is it the same for the 2/2.66/3 and 3ghz x 8?

Common sense says that 24GHz draws more power than 8GHz but I can't find specs on the mac Pro's Power supply anywhere.

Just a thought...

All versions of Mac Pro power supply rated 900 Watts ( combined wattages of +3.3VDC, +5VDC, +12VDC ).
