are these skywalker sound effects as well as the standard sound effects licensed for us to use for commercial / distribution purposes?

These are user to user Discussions and I doubt you can get a legal opinion from an Apple employee here.

Apple used to include gigabytes of free music downloads in a .Mac member iDisk. Most of the current music is left over from those collections.

ipplesandbininnis,

To the best of my knowledge, you are free to use all the content that comes with iLife '06 any way you like.

The material from Freeplay Music that QuickTime Kirk is referring to would have to be licensed for certain uses. You can find out more on their website.

At one time Apple did provide access to .Mac members to much of the Freeplay catalog. Now it's accessible to anyone though the Freeplay website.

However, Freeplay's licensing rules don't apply to the content that Apple provides on the iLife disks.

You can find the iLife license agreement here:

Hi guys,
I wanted to let you know I was able to get through to Apple support and get confirmation on how we could use the jingles and other sound effects from iMovie. The support tech. told me that the jingles are actually taken from Garage Band loops and that the license was the same for both apps since they are part of iLife together. Basically, as long as you're using the sound effects as part of the movie or music project as Apple intended, you can use them in commercial projects as you wish. The trouble comes in when someone tries to just take the sound effects or just the music clips, burn them to a disc, and sell them as sound effects or music loops that other people can use. He gave me the following link.
Thanks,
Rick
