Can't Change Short Name for my Administrator account

Is there any way to change the short name of an administrator account? I've cloned my system to my wife's boot drive, she's changed the administrator name, but now she can't get rid of my short name (just like she can't get rid of me; much as she'd like to!).

HELP indicates that you can't change the short name, but I thought I'd ask, just in case there is some way aorund the problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi Guy,

You could also try the third party utility ChangeShortName. There have been some positive reports but use at your own risk 😉
EDIT: And don't try any of this unless you are fully backed up.

Thanks for the info Malcolm.

I guess the 40 step procedure is the solution, but I don't think I'll bother. I had to have a little chuckle when I went through the link describing the procedure. The step numbers kept going and going. Forty steps to change a name. Apple should get their act together.

And Macjack, ChangeShortName is probably the way to go. I'll download it and see how it goes.
