    Same problem here, pretty irritating...

Thank you for the older versions. FWIW, this worked for me, even though I had to uninstall 7.3 and reboot first before installing 7.2. It seems happy again.

I just upgraded to 7.3 at 1:30pm MST today and I'm having the same problem. This is the error I get "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-50)". I'm running OSX 10.4.10 on a 2.66 GHz Mac Pro.

I am listening to music right now, but the error window keeps popping up (unless I check the "Do not warn me again" box).

I downloaded the update through Software Update the first time, and then again from the Apple website. No dice.

    Still broken.

Well, Apple has an hour to fix this...

OK, 2 hours till party, I can not make my play list. Took the afternoon off from work, to make my play lists and now -50.

Apple, we can not get the party started without a fix.

FAMTAD, are you on a mac or a PC? If you're on a PC, just uninstall and reinstall 7.2. You'll be set for your party.

    PowerBook G4 / 10.4.10 / iTunes 7.3

Getting the same error, iTunes icon bouncing errors all day, still plays audio though! Why are Apple software releases getting buggy and stuff all the time now? Everything used to be so seamless, but the most recent Safari release messed up a bunch of stuff on my Mac, the new OS update was quirky, and now iTunes is getting even worse.

I hope we get a fix for this, I want to see the iPhone release go smoothly and be successful (even though we can't get 'em up here in Canada yet).

Does anyone know if Apple is aware of the problem???\

This will suck if they don't get a new update before the iPhone launch... the clocks are ticking. Less than one hour till the East coast launch....

I am on a mac, updated both my dual G5 tower of non power now and my 12" G4 laptop. Thought it would be cool to have both updated for the party, not so good anymore.

Maccentral.com is aware of the issue, but they will not post an update to their article on the new itunes. The media is now censoring this problem, they don't want any bad press about the iPhone launch, because if you have -50 error, you phone will not work.

    Sorry everyone.

I doubt this is the case. I haven't even seen complaints on macrumors.com. This issue does seem to be affecting lots of users though.

Been bragging all week about my play lists for my party and how great they will be on apple tv. Now I can show like wedding play lists, dinner music play list, and other non related play lists not for a party. What is going on, is apple trying to stop the party with -50. What does -50 really mean? 5.0 normally means police. Because I have one mp3 not itunes store purchase and I now on some list of music downloaders? I have deleted said mp3 file, that I did not know where it came from and still -50 error.
  • Jeff Miller2 Level 1 (50 points)
well, just read the comments on maccentral, some users are have -50 issue.

No bad press for Apple. And if Apple doesn't get an update in about an hour, there WILL be bad press.

I've got the bug, too... As you can see on my sig, I have an external FireWire hard drive where I keep my music, and the library files are, as they should, on my home folder on the internal hard drive...

Oh, and by the way - even if this is kinda off-topic -, Apple hasn't yet fixed the massive sorting bugs on the Portuguese localized version I mentioned recently, and the bad and incoherent translations on the UI (Party Shuffle is translated differently on the Source column - to something like "Random Session" - and on the "Play next in Party Shuffle" and "Add to Party Shuffle" - to something like "Party session").

    How's that for QA? :S
