iTunes - Runtime error - microsoft visual C++

Everytime I try to run itunes it comes up with a runtime error - microsoft visual C++

Windows XP

Here is what should solved the issue for me:
1. Go to start -> control panel -> Ad or Remove Programs
2. Look for Apple software Updater click on "Click here for more support information" and then on Repair.
3. This should bring up a window saying that there are two new versions, one for iTunes and one for Quicktime. Install them. 4. Your shortcuts to iTunes won't work anymore. Go to programs - itunes and run itunes.exe
