Question

Can't add album art with 7.3

This is not about having itunes automatically retrieve album art. This is about iTunes, since I upgraded to 7.3 today, not allowing me to manually add album art to my files. They are AIFF files.

Anyone else having this problem all of a sudden?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

How is it not allowing you?
What happens/doesn't happen?

Make sure you have write permissions to the file and folders.

OK... in the Item Information window, I double-click in the Artwork box, and it allows me to select an image to use as album art. When I select it, that image DOES appear in the Artwork box in the Item Information window. However, when I click OK, then artwork DOES NOT show up in coverflow. Nor does it appear if I re-open the Item Information box.

Again, this is something I've done hundreds of times, so I know I'm not doing anything wrong, but for some reason, it won't work today, once I upgraded from 7.2 to 7.3.

Check this Thread about reverting back to 7.2 (ONLY if you're currently NOT using the iPhone).

As this Album Cover issue relates to AIFF tracks and if you're not yet using the iPhone, I found that reverting back to 7.2 recovers the viewing of Album Art that existed prior to the 7.3 install.

In the Thread referenced by the Link above, I've provided instructions about reverting back to 7.2.

MacFixit also has posted instructions, which vary from mine in that they recommend deleting the iTunes .plist file. Since I didn't want to lose any preference settings, that can be contained in a .plist file, I didn't want to delete that file.

To date, I've found that my reversion method has effectively put my iTunes back to same state as prior to installing 7.3 through S/U.

I'm happy and await the next update to 7.3 to see if it corrects this issue with Album Art and AIFF tracks.

Yes poster. It's pretty widespread news on here that album art got broken in AIFF files. Apparently it's really still there but iTunes 7.3 doesn't show it or allow it to be written. Those who switched back to 7.2 temporarily say it's right where it always was.

Album art does work in Lossless.
