I cannot sort numbers before letters. Help!

It sort by numbers then letters in iTunes 7.1.

It was changed only today in iTunes 7.3.

... Why does the iPhone have alphabeticals come before numericals? I thought everyone knew that, when sorting, numbers always come first.

I actually reinstalled itunes and played around with erasing all my preferences just because I thought it HAD to be my problem. I mean, WHY would anyone want their numbers at the bottom?

Please fix this! At least put an option to have numbers come before letters. It's pretty annoying.

If you want 311 to be at the beginning, put AA 311 in the Sort Artist field.

Equal rights for numbers! Separate is not equal!

ITunes should interpret numerals as their alphabetical equivalent.

For example the band "50 Foot Wave" should be interpreted and sorted as "Fifty Foot Wave".

Granted, it would be difficult to implement this logic -- a band named "911" would probably be popularly known to humans as "nine one one" if the name was a reference to the emergency response phone number of the U.S., but the software might see it as "nine hundred eleven". But it would at least still be in the "n"s like it should be.

It's simple.
If you want the band 911 to show up in the correct order under N, put Nine one one in the Sort Artist filed.

That's not a solution, that's a workaround.

If you don't want to use the solution, then you can continue to not view them in the order you want.

Nah, I decided to send feedback to Apple instead. They need to solve the problem, so people won't have to use workarounds like renaming bands.

It's not a problem for those of us that do want band names that start with a number to be sorted by the actual number and not the alphabetical spelling of the number.

I didn't suggest renaming the bands.
Put the info in the Sort artist field, not the Artist field. It will remain the same and be displayed correctly.

If you put Nine One One in the Sort artist field and leave the Artist field as 911, it will show up like this.

wow this really s*cks. This is so stupid that they would call this bug an enhancement, and even worse that they would offer a "workaround" and call it a fix.

Change it back!!!!
